What is MountaineerTHON?
MountaineerTHON is the largest student-run philanthropic organization on the West Virginia University campus. It is an annual no-sitting, no-sleeping event held in the spring semester. It celebrates the year-long efforts to raise awareness and funds for WVUMedicine Children's Hospital, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Morgantown,WV. It is the largest children’s hospital in the state, serving more than 190,000 children each year in its inpatient and outpatient facilities.
Can I register as an individual?
Yes! You do not have to register under a team name or with a group. We will take care of making sure that you know everything there is to know along the way.
Can I create a team?
Yes! Whether you have a group from a student organization, athletic club, or a group of friends, you can create your own team name and continue to register on our DonorDrive page. We will stay in contact with you, as the team captain, and make sure you know everything you need to pass on to your teammates.
Am I required to raise a certain amount?
In order to attend Main Event 2021, each registered dancer is encouraged to raise $100 and to strive for raising even more.
Do you actually dance the whole time?
No! Although we are called “Dance Marathon”, we have a wide variety of exciting programs going on throughout the Main Event. Our team works year round to make sure registrants will be engaged and having fun doing a wide variety of things that spark their interest. We are always coming up with new ideas and would love your input too!
How do I raise my money?
After you register for MountaineerTHON, you will stay in contact with our Dancer Relations team who will ensure that you know every possible way you could be raising money for our kids. You can even check out our Instagram @mountaineerthon for fundraising tips and fun Bingo Boards. Fundraising strategies range from sending our letter template to family and friends, purchasing our branded merchandise, to more interactive fundraisers year round with the executive team!
Do I have to be in Greek Life?
No! We encourage ALL students at West Virginia University to get involved. MountaineerTHON is the perfect opportunity to unite a diverse group of students across campus that are passionate about the same cause.
